A trip to Kefalonia is not complete without a trip to Myrtos beach. This beach is one of the most impressive beaches in Greece!
Nestled between the feet of two mountains; Agia Dynati and Kalon Oros. It is this formation that gives this incredible beach its dramatic look. The white pebble beach stretches for one and a half miles and is the perfect spot to spend your day.

There are so many beautiful viewpoints looking down on this famous beach. Drive around the road to explore all of the incredible views. If you are lucky, you will also see many goats roam freely around the road.
What is Myrtos Beach in Kefalonia known for?
Of course, Mrytos beach is known for it’s dramatic scenery, but also the turquoise water.
When looking down onto Myrtos beach, one thing that makes it unique is the appearance of the sea sparkling.
This is caused by tiny pieces of marble that lay on the sea bed. The waves pick up the marble, and the sun illuminates them creating the illusion the water is sparkling.
Despite how famous and well-known this beach is, it remains relatively untouched. As of 2021, there are no permanent structures down on the beach. There is a beach bar under construction, but bring food and water to make sure you can stay awhile. There are sunbeds for hire. However, there is still plenty of room for a towel.
