How to reach Kuta Lombok
Getting to Kuta Lombok from Bali is easy, and you have a few options.
PLANE.
You can jump on a plane for the shortest travel time, around 25 minutes, but that is once you are in the air, and then around 30 minutes travel South to Kuta. It is worth keeping in mind the cost of a flight can be a lot more than your two sea options.
FAST BOAT.
Fast boat from Bali to Lombok. With many different departure and desitnations this can take from 1.5 hours to 3 hours dependaing on the route you take or your distantation. Many go into Bangsal which is around 1.5 hours to 2 hours drive South to Kuta.
PUBLIC FERRY.
The Public Ferry is by far the longest journey with a crossing time from 4 hours to 6 hours. The advantage of this is you can bring your own transport over with you (As long as your insurance and the hire company allow the travel). You can also sunbath on the top deck or catch up on some sleep, and it is as cheap as chips to travel this way.
Our recommendation is to do a quick stop off in the Gili Islands to break up the crossing time; Gili Air is our favourite, with a beautiful white sand beach wrapping around the island. You can enjoy some amazing snorkelling and diving during the day, and at night, dine on some incredible food from all around the world and finish with an open-air cinema on the beach.
